TRICLOVER
Tri Clover unions can be identified by the clamp that holds the union together. A union consists of two ferrules with a grooved face to seat a seal in between and a clamp that goes over the flanges of the ferrule to hold it together. The ferrules come in a range of lengths and there are also two styles of clamps available. One with a single wing nut to tighten and loosen by hand and one with two bolts to do up with a spanner which is used for high pressure applications.
There are many different material options for Triclover seals. These consist of EPDM rubber, Nitrile, Teflon, Viton and Silicone. There is also some specialty type seals like a sandwich type which has Teflon on the outside and Viton/EPDM centre and also a Teflon seal that comes with a micron mesh inbuilt into the seal so filters out desired particles. Each has a given application for temperature and is able to work with different chemical compositions.
